Why Recreational Gymnastics
nParticipation in gymnastics helps children become physically active, and stay fit and healthy. Taking part in any exercise significantly reduces the risk of obesity, heart disease, and diabetes in adulthood.nThe challenging nature of gymnastics requires commitment and concentration. Gymnastics helps children build a range of motor and coordination skills, and assists in developing a good sense of body awareness. nnTaking part in gymnastics at a young age can help build the foundations of good all-around muscle strength, endurance, and power. Gymnastics can build confidence through achievement, and teach children how hard work and dedication pays off!

Who Created Gymalaya?
nOur founder, Yael Kravetz, is a former gymnast, competitive gymnastics coach, and has been teaching for 30 years. Yael’s passion for gymnastics led her to make her vision a reality – by launching Gymalaya in 2006. Her goal was to provide all children with the opportunity to enjoy the benefits of gymnastics in a fun, safe, educational and non-competitive environment, using a state-of-the-art modern equipment and employing a high standard of coaching.
With her belief that gymnastics is the foundation for many aspects in a child’s physical, social and emotional development, Yael loves making a difference in children’s lives and watching them reach their full potential. nnEugene Rakita, a competitive men’s gymnastics head coach, started working with Gymalaya in 2007. He loved the Gymalaya concept, and in 2008, he joined forces with Yael and opened a second Gymalaya location in Newmarket.

Both Gymalaya Vaughan and Gymalaya Newmarket have become well established gymnastics businesses in their local communities offering classes, birthday parties and seasonal camps for children of all ages.
